Die ambitionierte, geburtsblinde Lilly Walter (Fritzi Haberlandt) versucht ihn dazu zu überreden sich im Blindenzentrum des Krankenhauses helfen zu lassen. Er lehnt vehement ab, verkriecht sich in sich selbst und seine Verbitterung führt zum Selbstmordversuch... Jakob überlebt. Er entkommt seinen Aufsichtspersonen und hat nur noch ein einziges Ziel. Er möchte seine Mutter in Russland besuchen, die bald sterben wird. Lilly folgt ihm... gemeinsam begeben sie sich auf Reise, in deren Verlauf sie ihre Liebe zueinander entdecken...
