Bereits vor dem Unfall hatte der von Comics faszinierte Barry in Starling City mit Oliver Queen zusammengearbeitet, ohne zu wissen, dass es sich dabei um „Arrow“ handelt. Barrys Vater sitzt wegen des Mordes an seiner Mutter im Gefängnis. Barry ist jedoch von dessen Unschuld überzeugt und will den „wahren Täter“ finden.

Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel.
