Versailles

Die französische Historienserie „Versailles“ beginnt mit einem 28-jährigen Ludwig XIV. (George Blagden), der seinen Hof gerade nach Versailles verlegt hat, um an Einfluss zu gewinnen. Die zweite Staffel setzt vier Jahre später ein. In weiteren Rollen sind unter anderem Alexander Vlahos als Königsbruder Monsieur, Amir Casar als Béatrice und Dominique Blanc als Anna von Österreich zu sehen. „Versailles“ ist mit einem Kostenaufwand von 30 Millionen Euro das bisher ambitionierteste Serienprojekt von Canal+. Die Summe konnte unter anderem durch Koproduzenten (Super Channel, Bell Media, Movistar und BBC Two) finanziert werden, weil die Serie in englischer Sprache gedreht wurde. Eine Entscheidung, die nicht ganz ohne Stirnrunzeln in Frankreich aufgenommen wurde. Gedreht wurde an Originalschauplätzen in Versailles und Umgebung.
